Doug Bollinger is ready to confront India in the first cricket Test at Mohali
An afternoon training session at the PCA Stadium confirmed Bollinger would take his place alongside Mitchell Johnson, Ben Hilfenhaus and Shane Watson as the Australian pace attack, while Nathan Hauritz is expected to take on the spin duties.
Australian captain Ricky Ponting said Bollinger, a revelation while bowling for Australia in one day matches on the subcontinent this time last year, was looking good.
"We had to hold him back a little bit yesterday, he bowled to me in the nets and he bowled one and I picked it up and said 'you aren't supposed to be bowling today, are you' but he wanted to have a short bowl yesterday which he did and got through really well," said Ponting.
Another key role will be filled by the young Tasmanian wicketkeeper Tim Paine, who will hope to offer a surer pair of gloves than Brad Haddin was able to in 2008.
"We're talking about trying to build pressure and it only needs to be a rotation of strike to get a batter down the other end, whether it's a single or a bye, can lead to all that pressure you're building not being there anymore," said Ponting.
"You need to have Tim confident, he's going to spend a lot of time up to the stumps to the spinners as well and every opportunity he can grab there is vitally important."
