South Australia v Tasmania, Ryobi Cup, Adelaide
Tasmania 6 for 274 (Cowan 75, Cosgrove 61, Bailey 50) beat South Australia 183 (Cooper 56, Doherty 3-20) by 91 runs
Tasmania won by 91 runs
Player of the match GJ Bailey (Tasmania)
Half-centuries to Ed Cowan, Mark Cosgrove and George Bailey set up Tasmania's convincing 91-run victory over South Australia in Adelaide. The Tigers batted first and Cosgrove's 61 was followed by Cowan's strong 75 before Bailey provided a surge of 50 from 32 balls to push them to 6 for 274
Bailey chipped in for Tasmania as well with an aggressive 50 off 32 balls, also belting seven boundaries and a six.
"I think the partnership from Cosgrove and Cowan allowed us to do that," Bailey said.
"It's nice to have someone like that at the top of the order for us. That's how he bats, really well. I think he's smart now, he builds an innings now. He doesn't blaze away, if a bloke's bowling well he's happy to respect that. He rotates his strikes really well."
"Our one day cricket has been pretty good. It's nice to start this competition well," he said.
"With 15 overs to go we were still on 80 or 90 runs ahead. (The) early wickets were really important for us - to get Harris and Klinger out so cheaply... it was one of those games."
