Mitchell Johnson worried about form following Troy Cooley's exit from Test coaching staff

Having accepted the role as head of Cricket Australia's Centre of Excellence in Brisbane, Cooley will be off the international touring roster from next year, and no longer able to maintain the close relationship with the pace battery that Johnson and others have enjoyed.

Former Australian quicks Craig McDermott and Jason Gillespie, plus current England pace bowling coach David Saker, are among the mentors considered suitable for the task.

"Personally I think so yes, it'll be very tough (to work without Cooley)," Johnson told AAP before his return to Australia, where he is following a tightly planned path to the Ashes

"That's where I'm going to miss Troy the most but he's always a phone-call away like Glenn McGrath or Dennis (Lillee).

"I look back at the Ashes and Troy was pretty calm with all that, he didn't pressure me too much with looking at footage and he knows me so well," said Johnson.
