Victoria v Tasmania, Sheffield Shield, Melbourne,
Tasmania 326 and 234 (Birt 68, Siddle 4-30, Pattinson 4-40) beat Victoria 276 and 261 (Quiney 102, Wade 60, Butterworth 5-41) by 23 runs
Tasmania won by 23 runs
Tasmania all-rounder Luke Butterworth says only being part of the state's sole Sheffield Shield-winning side in 2007 tops the victory over Victoria at the MCG.
"It's the second biggest win, the final probably topped that, but winning here at the MCG against the Vics is certainly up there," said Butterworth, whose match-winning haul came on his 27th birthday.who finished with match figures of 9 for 77 in addition to making a valuable 39 in the second innings.
Butterworth made the chase difficult when he picked up three quick wickets after lunch to leave Victoria reeling at 5-88.
"It is bittersweet, at the end of the day we come away with no points, which is not what we came to do," Quiney said.
"Whether I got runs or no runs, we were out to get two points initially, then six points at the end."
The two sides meet again in a one-dayer on Saturday.
