With only days before the first Vodafone Ashes Test in Brisbane the old rivalry between Australia and England has begun.
Aussie fast bowlers Peter Siddle, Ben Hilfenhaus and Mitchell Johnson are challenging England star Kevin Pietersen in the “Battle of the ‘Tashes” in support of Movember.
Movember is the official charity partner of Cricket Australia. Through its Cricket Cares program, Cricket Australia and cricket clubs nationwide have already raised $19,500 this November.
Having spent the early part of the month working on their Mo’s, this summer’s Ashes stars are ready to go head-to-head in the Battle of the ‘Tashes for the title the best Mo’ in cricket.
Johnson spoke confidently about his chances against his fast-bowling counterpart Siddle.
“Sids does get a bit ginger with his growth… I think it will be good going Mo-to-Mo: I think I can grow a pretty dirty Mo’,” Johnson said.
Siddle was realistic about his chances against the others in the Battle of the ‘Tashes.
“I don’t have the best growth going around. The shape and style of the Mo’ could be very funny and a lot of a laugh,” Siddle said.
“I’ve got a little bit of a problem with growing hair. I’ll see what I can muster up on top of here. It could be a bit of a joke but it’s all for a good cause and hopefully I can get a bit of support along the way.”
