Ballarat will host a national cricket tournament next week when the 2010 Australian University Championship Twenty20™ Cricket comes to town from 6 – 9 December.
Attracting teams from Victorian, New South Wales and Queensland universities, the national tournament will be held across five venues over the four days of competition.
The annual tournament, organised by Australian University Sport (AUS), attracts a number of good quality teams and is the final event on the 2010 university sport calendar.
“The Twenty20™ Cricket Championship is always a hotly contested event. This year the teams to watch are the University of New South Wales (silver medallists in 2009) and Queensland University of Technology (fourth last year),” said Mr Wes Grant, AUS national events coordinator and organiser of the event.
Wendouree Oval, Northern Oval, Eastern Oval, City Oval and Western Oval will all be used during the competition, with the gold medal match to be played on Eastern Oval at 1:00 pm, Thursday 9 December.
Members of the public are welcome to come down and watch the matches.
