Mark Cameron steals show at Gabba and 11-52 steals Nathan Hauritz show

WHAT was supposed to be a tune-up for Test spinner Nathan Hauritz became a tribute to NSW teammate Mark Cameron as the Blues thrashed Queensland within two days on a Gabba green-top.

In his first Sheffield Shield match since January 2009, comeback quick Cameron grabbed 11 wickets for the game as Queensland were routed by an innings and 91 runs on Monday.

Incredibly, the Bulls lost 18 wickets in two sessions after resuming their first innings at 2-40.

Cameron, 29, took 6-22 in Queensland's first innings of 75 and 5-30 in the Bulls' second dig of 96.

Fair to say the conditions were ideal for pace bowling, with heavy clouds overhead and a green tinge to the pitch, but the Blues trio of Cameron, Coyte and Trent Copeland were nothing short of exceptional.

The hat-trick was the first between Queensland and NSW since 1958 Gordon Rourke, and the first at the Gabba since Michael Kasprowicz's in the 1998-99 season.

NSW's star-studded Australian contingent will be available for their next Shield clash against Victoria at the SCG from November 10.

Queensland captain and Australian one-day regular James Hopes said Cameron must be discussed at the national selection table.

"That is as good as I have faced in Shield cricket for a while," Hopes said.

Cameron started day two of the Shield game with two wickets before he doubled that tally with the first two deliveries of the morning.

Chasing the Blues' 262, the Bulls went into an embarrassing freefall to be all out for 96 in the second innings and 75 in the first, the first team to score fewer than 100 in both innings since South Australia in the summer of 1976-77.
