Peter Siddle I'm ready to fire

Australian paceman Peter Siddle says he is ready to return to the Test arena following a 10-month hiatus.

The right-arm quick on Monday was named in the 17-man squad for the first Ashes Test startig November 25.

"It's going to be a big series - five Tests - a lot of things are going to happen through that time, a lot of players are no doubt going to be used and hopefully we're all a part of it," Siddle said.

"But I've done everything I can up until now, I feel I'm ready to play, ready to go, and we've got until next Thursday to know whether I'm part of it or not, but it's a good part to be in at the moment."
Siddle admitted his lay off had put him back in the queue for a fast bowlers' spot in the Australian 11.

"I thought I bowled pretty well, it was a wicket we were not normally familiar with. But I enjoyed it, I did bowl a few down leg side, but it was one-day game for us on the weekend."

"I think out team has been growing quite nicely over the last 18 months ourselves. If you look back to the last Ashes series in England, we were quite a new team," he said.

"I think we've kept a good core group of guys together for quite a period of time now, I think the guys know their roles really well, and feel a part of the team and feel they deserve to be part of the team, and I'm expecting something special from the Australian team, we've been doing it tough the last couple of months but I think we've been building up quite nicely to putting in a huge Ashes series, and it's a series we're all ready to be a part of".
