Forced to follow-on on Sunday, the Warriors finished the day at 6-311 with a lead of 154 runs, but the Redbacks took first innings points following their declared total of 8-452.
North finished the second innings with 101 including 15 boundaries while Marsh was eventually removed for 89.
Mike Hussey again failed, making only three to follow his first innings golden duck.
The knock possibly also saved his Test spot for the Ashes series opener against England starting November 25.
North's fortunes turned on the third ball he faced when the lefthander appeared to be trapped plumb lbw by SA quick Peter George, but was given not out by umpire Geoff Joshua.
"That's the game of cricket, you get ones that go your way every now and then," North said.
SA's huge first innings total was set up by a stunning session in the middle by man of the match Callum Ferguson who posted 129 runs, doing his aspirations of international selection no harm.
"A number of us had to bat well and bat long, and obviously Shaun is in great touch and has had a couple of wonderful days." Marsh and North weathered superb spells of fast bowling from Redback Peter George.
