NSW paceman Mark Cameron is the fresh face being tipped to come in to calculations for the third Ashes Test in Perth next Thursday.
The right-handed 29-year-old has supporters among a group of ex-players asked to select a Test team for the do-or-die Perth Test.
Both Ian Healy and Simon O'Donnell nominated Cameron for inclusion on a Perth track that is expected to be fast and bouncy, while Stuart MacGill threw Brett Lee's name back in to the Test mix.
"If they told Brett Lee they wanted him to play he would play. He has 300 Test wickets, for God's sake," said MacGill.
The jury is out on whether Mitchell Johnson deserves an immediate return, with Cameron the bolter among the former greats.
Blewett said he hopes they pick four quicks for the WACA, with Smith as a replacement for Marcus North.
"In reality, Smith probably isn't ready but being a leggie he might just snaffle you a couple of wickets," said Blewett. "The fact is we have to take wickets and I think Smith is a better option than Xavier Doherty."
Phil Hughes is widely seen as the only replacement option for injured opener Simon Katich, while MacGill believes Mike Hussey's form surge should see him reinstated to No. 4 with out-of-sorts Michael Clarke dropped down the batting order.
Predictably, Greg Matthews had radical views on changes and suggest dropping our only in-form batsman Hussey for Usman Khawaja.
