ICC Europe announces Officials Panels for 2011

The European Officials Selection Committee (EOSC) has this week announced the ICC Europe Officials Panel for the upcoming 2011 tournament season.

ICC Europe are delighted to announce new appointments to the ICC Europe Umpire Panel they are: Heath Kearns (Jersey): Huub Jansen (Netherlands): Kamran Sadiq and Manzoor Nazar (Norway): Paul Cawsey (Switzerland): Allan Haggo (Scotland): Alex Adams and Paul Simpson (Ireland): Sean Whelan (Guernsey).

We are also pleased to announce that: Alex Dowdalls (Scotland); Bart Hartong (Netherlands); David Kenworthy (Isle of Man); Alan Neill (Ireland); and Keith Smith (Ireland) have all been promoted to the Elite Panel. This is in recognition of their outstanding contribution to European tournaments.

ICC Europe would like to thank those retiring members from the Umpire Panel who have supported us over the past years. All of the following have given great service to European umpiring and we wish them well in their future endeavors: Ingeborg Bevers; Graham Kelsey; Bob Lomax; Willem Molenaar; Claus Olesen; and Sandy Scotland.

The Referee Panel this year has been reduced to seven and it is envisaged that a number of these seven referees will be given the opportunity to officiate at more than one event during 2011. This may include remote refereeing for the two Division 1 Challenge Series events at U/17 and U/19 level.

We welcome onto the Panel, Jim McClymont (Scotland) whilst Trevor Magee (Ireland) will undertake training during the season as a probationary referee.

Graham Cooper, Regional Umpire Consultant is pleased with the appointments: "We are particularly pleased to see Kamran and Manzoor on the Panel - they are the first umpires from Norway to feature and this reflects all the hard work and investment that Norway has put into their umpire education programme during the last 5 years. We hope they will be able to extend this knowledge with experience gained at our events."

Richard Holdsworth, Regional Development Manager - Europe adds: "This year we have thought very hard about the Officiating set-up and are pleased to announce some new appointments that I am sure will do an outstanding job. I would like to also thank all those departing for their great service and continuous hard work and hope they will continue to help share their experiences and knowledge with colleagues in their countries."
