makes a call to arms asking users to pick an Australia side that can save the Ashes

After just two Ashes Tests, only three of Australia's starting XI for the series opener seem to be black-and-white selections for Perth, while Ricky Ponting's Test future is a dark shade of grey.

In the aftermath of Australia's humiliating second Ashes Test defeat in Adelaide, foxsports.com.au is issuing a call to arms for users to pick a side capable of rising from the brink of an Ashes series defeat.

Some experts say it's time to tinker, while others suggest it would be "English" to keep chopping and changing in the middle of the main event. But we want to know what you would do.

Read our list of candidates to replace the current crop of battlers, then stick on your selectors' hats and tell us which changes would make a difference against the current England machine.

Batsmen: With opener Simon Katich injured and Marcus North seemingly clueless, a spot at the top of the order , and  two spots in total, seem to be up for grabs - not that vice-captain Michael Clarke and skipper Ponting have scored the runs required of them.

All-rounders: With both Australia's batting and bowling line-ups struggling, it might be time to think about adding a specialist all-rounder to the team.

Bowlers: Can we find a quartet who can take 20 wickets? Peter Siddle had a big opening day at the Gabba, but he has rarely troubled the Poms since. Fox Sports' Greg Blewett labelled Ben Hilfenhaus the leader of the Australia attack after the India series, but the Tasmanian didn't even make it to Adelaide.

Finally, the spinner spot.

Nathan Hauritz was deemed not good enough before the series began, and Doherty isn't good enough now. Is the time right for Australia to cut their losses and deploy a four-prong pace attack in bouncy Perth? We'll leave it up you.
