The Warriors were on fire in the first session of day three, taking seven wickets to have the hosts at 8-120 at lunch, but rain began to fall in the break and continued in patches until play finally re-started at 5pm.
Queensland v WA, Sheffield Shield, Brisbane
Queensland 150 (Townsend 47, Hogan 4-53, Dorey 3-39, Duffield 3-40) and 1 for 23 trail Western Australia 331 by 158 runs
Michael Hogan bowled Western Australia into a commanding position on a rain-affected third day at the Gabba, where Queensland followed on after being bundled out for 150. In their second innings, the Bulls were 1 for 23 with Ryan Broad on 18 and Craig Philipson on 1, still trailing by 158 runs.
Hogan finished with 4 for 53, and was well supported by Dorey (3 for 39) and Ryan Duffield, who collected 3 for 40 and then had Townsend trapped lbw 4 for early in Queensland's second innings. Michael Beer flew to Perth on Sunday to join Australia's Test squad and was replaced in the Western Australia side by Aaron Heal, who wasn't needed as the fast men did all the damage.
