DAVID Warner is so disappointed with the amount of first-class cricket he is playing with the Blues he's considering quitting NSW.

Frustrated ... David Warner with his girlfriend at Sydney International Airport yesterday on his way to India to play in the IPL..

Warner flew to India yesterday for the start of this weekend's IPL tournament, where he will play for the Delhi Daredevils.

But the nuggety left-hander would have been just as happy to delay his start to the lucrative Twenty20 tournament if it meant playing in the final Shield game today against South Australia, a match that will have no bearing on the season.

Warner is desperate to play more first-class cricket and admits he will listen to rival states in a bid to fulfil his long-term goal of "opening the batting in all three forms of the game".

It has been hard for NSW selectors to tinker with the Shield side that has won its past two matches.

But Warner's pulling power in the KFC Big Bash and Ford Ranger Cup - he is arguably the biggest Twenty20 drawcard in Australia - are good enough reasons to grant his Shield wishes.

"Obviously I'm still under contract with NSW, I have another couple of months with them, so I'm playing it by ear," Warner said.

"If other states approach me then I'll be more than obliged to speak with them at the right time.

"It's disappointing I didn't play more Shield cricket, but I have to do what is best for my cricket.

He could not be in better form ahead of the IPL after a trailblazing half-century off 18 balls at the SCG to end the Aussie summer.

Warner was joined by NSW and Delhi teammate Moises Henriques yesterday. Henriques was late arriving at the airport after being forced to renew his passport.

Meanwhile, fellow young guns Steven Smith and Phillip Hughes will learn if they will be included in the New Zealand Test squad today, just hours after they take the field for the final Shield game for NSW.
