Brett Lee looking to eyeing return to national team one-day international kick-start cricket return by playing grade with Mosman

BRETT Lee will kick-start what could be his final summer of cricket by taking the new ball for Mosman in the Sydney grade competition this weekend.

Lee will play club cricket for the first time in years as he returns from elbow surgery, which has kept him out of action for five months.

Determined to return for Australia's limited-overs outfit against Sri Lanka next month, Lee, 33, knows he will need to come through Saturday afternoon's hitout at Bankstown Oval unscathed.

"If everything turns out well on Saturday then I'll look to the one-dayer for NSW on October 17 [against Western Australia]," Lee said. "I won't be trying to bowl them at 160km/h on the weekend. I'll be easing my way back into it, trying to find a bit of rhythm and then build up as each game goes on.

"The aim is to be right for the Sri Lankan series next month. If I'm not ready for it, so be it, but that's the aim. I'll be at absolute full tilt for the World Cup in India."

NSW head to Adelaide tomorrow for the opening one-dayer of the season on Saturday, ahead of Monday's Sheffield Shield clash.

NSW return for their one-dayer with the Warriors at Hurstville Oval on Sunday week, Lee's proposed domestic comeback.
