A more mature David Warner is determined to grasp the chance to resurrect his international one-day cricket career and stake a claim for a 2011 World Cup spot.
Twenty20 superstar David Warner admits he forgot how to play the 50-over format when he first burst onto the international scene, but says he's now ready to prove he belongs.
Warner was named in a 14-man squad on Wednesday ahead of the upcoming three-match tour of India starting on October 17.
While the 23-year-old has been a mainstay of the Twenty20 side ever since his unforgettable 89 off 43 deliveries against South Africa on debut at the MCG in early 2009,
But the hard-hitting left hander insists he's learnt from past mistakes and has vowed to make the most of his reprieve ahead of the 2011 ICC World Cup beginning next February.
"It is good news, obviously I've been out of the one-day squad for about a year now and I'm mature enough I reckon now and I'm looking forward to it," Warner said of his selection at the Cricket NSW season launch on Wednesday.
"I'm really looking forward to it, the atmosphere there is always bubbling and I love playing there in front of their crowd and we're up for a good series."
"It was actually funny, yesterday I got a phone call saying I was in the four-day team for next week and then I get a phone call last night that I'm in the one-day team," he revealed.
"I still do want to play four-day cricket and I was really looking forward to it but now I'm looking forward to playing for Australia as well."
