Bollinger, Hussey to return fly home

Australia fast bowler Doug Bollinger and middle-order batsman Michael Hussey will return to Australia prior to the third ODI against India in Goa on October 24.

Hussey is being sent back to play Western Australia's Sheffield Shield match against South Australia, while Bollinger's return is to help the rehabilitation of his abdominal strain, which has kept him on the bench since the first Test in Mohali.

Both players had joined the squad in India late after fulfilling their Champions League commitments for the Chennai Super Kings in South Africa.

THE Ashes have clearly become the top priority for Australian selectors, with Doug Bollinger and Mike Hussey the latest star players to be given an early pardon from the Indian tour.

"Doug's return-to-cricket date will be finalised following this assessment.

Bollinger remains the key to Australia's pace attack and, should he fire with fellow left-armer Johnson, will go a long way to silencing the Poms.

"As part of the ongoing individual workload management ahead of an exciting Australian summer, and the ICC Cricket World Cup in the subcontinent [in February], Mike Hussey will not play in the third one-day game in India and return home to Australia," Hilditch said.

"Mike will have a few days off and then resume cricket in the Shield match at Adelaide Oval on October 29."

Australia remain the top-ranked one-day nation, have three ODIs against Sri Lanka next month and are keen to build towards next February's World Cup.

But all eyes remain on regaining the precious urn from the old enemy.
