David Warner has become a prime target for New Zealand Twenty20 franchises and could follow Brett Lee across the Tasman at the end of the year.

While Lee is close to signing off on a deal with Wellington for the HRV Cup, big-hitting Warner is understood to have been hotly pursued by at least three franchises.

While money is not a priority in New Zealand - the reported deals are much less than those offered in the IPL and, to a lesser extent, the KFC Big Bash - Lee and Warner would have another chance to qualify for the lucrative Twenty20 Champions' League.

Warner has become a household name because of his Twenty20 fireworks, but is just as determined to pursue a Test career.

Lee has quit Test and first-class cricket, which gives him more flexibility.

Meanwhile, NSW all-rounder Moises Henriques broke down with a groin injury after taking four wickets for the Blues in their Sheffield Shield clash with South Australia. He will miss Sunday's one-day match against WA
