After losing the first final against Sri Lanka at Adelaide, Australia needed to win at the SCG to force a third and decisive final. When Chaminda Vaas took three quick wickets to dismantle the Australian top order, Andrew Symonds joined captain Ricky Ponting to save the Aussies and in doing so break the Australian partnership record of 234 with twin centuries. Symonds finished with 156, the highest score at the SCG, and Ponting finished with 124.
Australia would go on to defeat Sri Lanka and seal the series win in Brisbane by 9 wickets.
Highlights include every boundary scored by both Ponting and Symonds, milestone celebrations and dismissals.
