Peter Siddle is hoping selection in Sunday's Twenty20 against Sri Lanka will be the start of a long summer of international cricket.
With Australia's bid to regain the Ashes beginning on November 25 in Brisbane, Siddle said he was encouraged by comments from chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch that he remains "a key bowler in all forms of the game".
Six Victorians and as many New South Welshman make up the 12-man squad that was announced by the National Selection Panel on Monday.
''It's always good to get called-up, no matter what form it is.
I haven't played a Twenty20 in a long time - I've only played one for Australia last year - so it will be a good opportunity to get another go.
Hopefully it's just the start of a number of Australian teams I get selected in this year," Siddle said.
Siddle's last match for Australia was in January before stress fractures in his back sidelined the 25-year-old.
"It's all feeling good at the moment, I'm getting through big spells and obviously the pace, I think it's up there anyway, hopefully the ball's coming out alright," he said at stumps on Monday.
"I'm fully fit, strong, bowling well and bowling fast and being consistent and I think that's the key areas that they're looking at me for."
