The Victorian run machine has long struggled to get regular selection in the green and gold, but says his one-day form should command the selectors to choose him in the lead up to next year's World Cup.
“I think on form I should be picked, there’s no doubt about that,” he told FoxSports. “You can’t reel off four centuries in the last year … someone reeled off the stats, I think it was 1000 runs averaging close to 100 in the last 12 matches, you can’t deny that, it’s pretty good.”
BRAD Hodge says there's "no doubt" he should be playing cricket for Australia.
Hodge retired from longer forms of the game last year.
The 35 year old has only played 25 one-dayers for Australia (and just the six Tests despite averaging 55.88), but struggled to find consistency, and now the common assessment seems to be that he’s on the wrong side of the age scale.
"I'd really like to be available for all games, all forms for Australia no doubt," Clarke told reporters at Sydney airport.
"I think my body is in a pretty good place at the moment.
He also defended the effforts of the Ausrtralian middle order of Hussey, Marcus North and himself after they struggled to score consistently as a unit.
