Vics chasing three in a row

Victorian captain David Hussey says his side's desire to win three consecutive Sheffield Shield titles will drive them throughout the season.

The Bushrangers have won two straight Shield crowns and started their campaign for a third in perfect fashion with an eight-wicket victory over Western Australia at the WACA.

Victoria haven't won the competition three times in a row since the 1930s, which Hussey said the group was desperate to change.

"That's just our main goal. We want to make it our destiny," he said.

Victoria were sent in by WA and responded with an emphatic batting display, scoring 529 in their first innings, led by Andrew McDonald (163 off 116 balls)

Pattinson took 8-35 in WA's first innings, the second best first-class figures at the WACA, to lead a commanding Victorian pace line-up.

"We know we've got some ageing bodies but we're still around and we can still play some good domestic cricket."
