SOUTH Australians Dan Christian and Tom Cooper have been named in the Australian squad for the Hong Kong Sixes tournament at Kowloon Cricket Club early next month.
The seven-player squad has an average age of just 22, but has some good experience with 27-year-old Christian an Australian Twenty20 international representative.
Youngest of the squad are Tim Armstrong (NSW) and Ryan Carters (Victoria) who are both 20 and along with Cooper, 23, all played for their respective states in the recent Champions League Twenty20 in South Africa.
Armstrong also was a member of the winning Australia U19 World Cup squad earlier this year. Other squad members are WA's Matthew Johnston, 24 and Victorians Glen Maxwell, who is 21 and Will Sheridan, 23.
Former international John Davison will coach the team for the third consecutive year.
"It's an enjoyable tournament to be involved with and something a little different for the players which I'm sure they will enjoy," he said.
There are two group of four countries participating in the Hong Kong Sixes which began in 1992 and this year is staged on November 6 and 7.
The Bradman Group consists of Australia, England, Hong Kong and South Africa; the Sobers Group has India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
