Bats face torrid time in SCG clash

SHANE Watson says the SCG wicket will be a bowlers' paradise - and that could spell trouble for batsmen such as Usman Khawaja, Cameron White and Phil Hughes, looking to push their Ashes case.
Watson said the forecast stormy conditions would make it tough to bat in the Sheffield Shield match between New South Wales and Victoria.

And SCG curator Tom Parker said bowlers always thrived when Sydney's skies turned ugly.

"I'm pretty sure it will be bowler-friendly conditions, given the weather and seeing what the nets have been like as well," Watson said.

"I'll definitely be making the most of the ball because it could be hard with the bat."

Watson will be making his NSW debut, having already represented Tasmania and Queensland. He will be presented with his first cap by seam bowler Stuart Clark, who will captain the Blues.

Watson expected an explosive match with Ashes positions on the line and Victorian fast bowlers Peter Siddle and Clint McKay charging in.

"It will be a good challenge for us," White said. "They're super talented, on their home patch and, even without Katich and (Doug) Bollinger, they boast enormous depth."
