Queensland quick Ryan Harris is planning to push his case for Ashes selection when he takes on Ricky Ponting and Tasmania in a star-studded week of Sheffield Shield action.
The pair plan to play golf in Hobart in the lead-up to the match but there will be no love lost in the middle as Harris continues his Ashes bid after returning from revolutionary knee surgery.
Ponting is an unabashed fan of Harris's full-throttle style - hugely impressed when the paceman played two Tests earlier this year.
"Bowling to Ricky will be a good gauge of where I'm at and it will give him a first-hand look of how I'm bowling," Harris said.
"It would be even better if I got him out - that's what I'm planning.
"It's really good timing for me in that way.
Ponting and Harris are two of a raft of stars who are likely to line-up for their states this week, with New South Wales and Victoria also doing battle at the MCG.
Mark Cameron, who took 11 wickets in the last match against Queensland, should be safe, but had Josh Hazlewood been fit he too might have been in trouble.
With Victorian pushing for McKay's selection on the back of a five-wicket haul in Sunday's one-day international against Sri Lanka in Brisbane, where the first Test will be played, there should be some keen competition among the fast men.
