Stand-in Bushrangers skipper David Hussey says he has no regrets at all for his part in helping to extend his brother Michael's run of poor form ahead of next week's first Ashes Test in Brisbane.
In need of a long stay at the crease, Michael was out without scoring for Western Australia on the opening day of the Sheffield Shield match against the Vics at the MCG, caught by David at second slip off the bowling of Andrew McDonald.
It was Michael Hussey's second duck from just three Shield innings this season, and while David feels for him as a brother, he has no sympathy for him as a cricketer.
"He's just an opposition player," said Hussey.
"It's a new wicket and we spoke to the curator and he said it's probably going to do a lot for the first session and hopefully we could take maximum damage of their wickets," Hussey said.
"We kept fighting back the whole day and sadly they overran us later in the day.
Hussey said the Bushrangers' attack led by Damien Wright and Darren Pattinson in the absence of Clint McKay who's playing for Australia A in Hobart and Peter Siddle who's being rested ahead of the first Test, struggled for consistency.
"I thought the two standout bowlers for us were McDonald and (John) Hastings," said Hussey.
