Hazlewood hopes for Christmas comeback

Emerging young quick Josh Hazlewood is targeting a Christmas comeback from a back problem which has slowed his meteoric rise up Australia's pace bowling pecking order.

Rising star Hazlewood, 19, has already played one limited-overs international and was selected for Australia's recent two-Test tour of India, but had to withdraw after a `hot spot' was found in his back.

"It's good to get it before they found the crack, that obviously shortened the recovery time and I've been doing the rehab with the physio, I've been doing a fair bit of strength work and fitness," Hazlewood said.

The injury was the first real set back for the NSW youngster, who was a star member of Australia's under-19 World Cup winning team last season

"It's probably not a bad thing to miss that India tour, because it's hard work for the quicks," Hazlewood said.

"It was great to be around that squad and learn off the other quicks, such as Doug (Bollinger) and Mitch (Johnson) and guys like that, it was invaluable experience to hang around those guys at training and on game day."
