National chief of selectors Andrew Hilditch intends to stay on in the job despite controversial team choices

Staying on ... chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch.

Despite speculation he was set to leave after a string of controversial Austarlian cricket selections, chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch intends to stay on for another term.

Speculation has been rife that Hilditch could be on his last legs as selection chief after a shake-up in the national panel led to the appointment of batting legend Greg Chappell as Australia's first full-time selector.

Hilditch's contract expires after the World Cup in the subcontinent in March and it had been widely assumed he would step down to concentrate on his work as a high-flying Adelaide lawyer and spend more time with his family.

And Cricket Australia sources say there appears to be nothing standing in his way because Hilditch has strong support from the 14-man CA board.
