NSW selectors face pace headache

AFTER smashing Queensland inside two days in last weekend's Sheffield Shield match at the Gabba, NSW's in-form quicks have created a selection headache.
The pace trio of Scott Coyte, Trent Copeland and Mark Cameron routed the Bulls with Cameron particularly impressive, snaring 11 wickets in his first state match since February 2009.

But skipper Stuart Clark, who missed the Gabba match to be in Sydney for the birth of his third child, and Ashes hopeful Doug Bollinger are both gunning for returns to the NSW set-up in what looms as a challenging choice for selectors.

The scenario has left Blues coach Matthew Mott glad his role doesn't also included selecting the team.

"It's a good headache to have though, we've had the other type for a while with a few injuries and few guys away," Mott said.

"The selectors are blessed with options, it'll be interesting to see who gets the nod.

"Certainly the guys who did the job up there (in Queensland) did a fantastic job, but they're also aware that we do have the Australian players coming back, it's just part of playing in the squad at the moment.
"The way the wicket finished at the end of the year it certainly did assist the quicks but in saying that it spun as well," he said.

"The selectors have got to try and get the balance right, they've got a lot of options there."

The Shield match against the Bushrangers gets underway on November 10.
