South Australian Dan Christian made another claim for a berth in Australia's World Cup squad with a masterful batting display against NSW on Sunday but the all-rounder is more concerned his side is running out of time to make a charge for the Ryobi One-Day Cup finals.
The defeat leaves South Australia languishing in second last on the competition ladder with just three matches left to play.
Despite winning their last two matches before the defeat to the Blues, the Redbacks are seven points behind Tasmania, who hold the vital second spot with the top two teams making it through to the final.
"We know that and we know that we've just been far too patchy so far this season," a disappointed Christian said of his team's finals chances.
And with Christian in his current form the Redbacks will have a great chance.
The 27-year-old almost single-handedly dragged his side back into the match on Sunday, smashing a superb 85 off just 40 balls with six sixes and nine fours.
It follows on from a sensational hundred earlier in the season and a man-of-the-match performance last week against Victoria where he took 6-48 with the ball and slugged 86 from 78 deliveries with the bat.
He is currently the second highest run scorer in the competition with 367 for the season at an average of more than 61
"Obviously there's plenty of times when you don't score runs and cricket's not that good a game."
"At the moment I feel like I'm going alright."
