The old heave-ho

THE TONK....

THE Ashes are alive but not so Shane Warne's romance with British starlet Liz Hurley. Hurley has given two-timing Warne the old heave-ho after the leg-spinner's loose fingers and seemingly insatiable appetite for women again led him astray, according to a News Of The World report. The 41-year-old unleashed more than 100 racy texts to a married 44-year-old Melbourne mother of two, Adele Angeleri, while he was courting Hurley. The pair met when Mrs Angeleri, who runs a shop near Warne's office, approached him with a business proposal only to receive a string of propositions herself.

Grabbing his chance....

FOUR years ago, Jake Fawcett was given a high five by Ricky Ponting in the crowd as the Australian team left the field after retaining the Ashes. Yesterday, he took the injured captain's place in the field. Fawcett, a 20-year-old rookie-listed all-rounder from WA, jumped at the chance to carry the drinks once 12th man Michael Beer left for state duties.

Beer goes flat....

MICHAEL Beer began last week dreaming of a victory on Test debut in Perth but finished on the other side of the country a loser without a baggy green. WA copped a 10-wicket loss in its shield game against Tasmania at Bellerive Oval, and there was no personal joy either for Beer.
