Redbacks all-rounder Dan Christian for World Cup?

Redbacks all-rounder Dan Christian is entitled to dream about winning a place in the squad for next year's World Cup coming off the best game of his career against the Bushrangers in Geelong on Saturday.

But all the 27-year-old is concerned about right now is contributing to the Redbacks' next Ryobi Cup assignment against the Blues in eight days' time.

It's hard to recall a better all-round performance than Christian's at one-day domestic level in recent times.

Not satisfied with figures of 6-48 - the eighth-best in the history of limited-overs cricket in Australia - Christian followed-up by smashing 86 from 78 deliveries to get his team over the line with three overs to spare.

"It's the best game of cricket I've played in personally," said Christian who's ranked fourth for runs (282 at 56.4) and third for wickets (12 at 21) in the Ryobi Cup this season.

"To get six-for and then 80-odd in a win, it was definitely a good day for me."

Asked whether he'd advanced his claims for a World Cup berth, Christian said: "Obviously I would love to be there but I can't control that."

"It did flatten out in the afternoon and we knew that if (Michael) Klinger and myself could put a good partnership together that we would go close," he said.

"They've got three or four guys that bowl 140ks an hour plus and I think it was one of those wickets where the quicker you bowl the easier it was to bat."

"Our guys bowl around 130 and that made it a different game I think."

"Andrew McDonald would have been an absolute nightmare out there on that wicket, stump to stump, changing his pace, but unfortunately for them at the moment he's injured."

"I just tried to bowl straight, bang the ball in try to get it top of stump height."

Bushrangers skipper Cameron White was nonplussed by the result.
