Vics to target Redbacks openers

Victoria captain Cameron White admitted the Bushrangers will be targeting the embattled South Australian openers when they face off in their Sheffield Shield clash on Friday at Adelaide Oval.

The Redbacks have struggled to find a successful partnership to open the batting and this isn't lost on the Victoria captain who is eagerly plotting the demise of SA.

SA began the domestic season with Dan Harris and James Smith but both have failed to get the Redbacks off to a winning start and will now look to Tom Cooper and inexperienced duo Tom Moffat and 19 year-old Ben Dougall.

"If there's some inexperienced players at the top that might play into our hands a fraction," White said.
"We've have full confidence. We know what Aiden Blizzard can do when he gets going, unfortunately he hasn't done it yet in the one-day format, he's been terrific for us in the four-day format."

The Redbacks are fourth in the Shield standings, two points ahead of the bottom placed Bushrangers, but 14 points adrift of leader New South Wales.

Klinger acknowledged the importance of a win against the Bushrangers and what it means for the rest of the domestic season.

"The Vics are around the same mark as us so we've got to make sure we get a jump on them and keep ourselves right in the mix in the Shield competition," he said.

From the side that lost by eight wickets to NSW, SA bring in wicketkeeper Tim Ludeman from Graham Manou who broke his toe, Kane Richardson and Mick Delaney while Tim Lang was dropped.

White said Victoria would also make some changes to the side that thrashed SA by 67-runs in the Ryobi One Day Cup match on Wednesday.

"Damian Wright will probably come back in, John Holland will probably play, there could be a few changes there," he said.

South Australia: Michael Klinger (captain), Aiden Blizzard, Rob Cassell, Daniel Christian, Tom Cooper, Mick Delaney, Ben Edmondson, Callum Ferguson, Peter George, Tim Ludeman, Tom Moffat, Aaron O’Brien, Kane Richardson
