Victorian all-rounder Andrew McDonald says he is focused on Victoria's domestic campaign rather than his chances for selection in Australia's Ashes team, despite starting the season in spectacular form.
With national selector David Boon watching on from the stands, McDonald bludgeoned 163 off just 116 balls to help lift Victoria to a first innings total of 529.
"I'm one of national selector David Boon, so that always means you're in the view for the next 12 months."
It was McDonald's seventh first-class century and it couldn't have been better timed, with Australian selector David Boon in attendance and the Ashes series just six weeks away.
McDonald played the last of his four Tests in March last year but is still under contract with Cricket Australia.
Although Marcus North's recent century against India and the emergence of talented youngsters such as Callum Ferguson, Steve Smith, Usman Khawaja and Phillip Hughes have seemingly pushed McDonald way down the Test pecking order, the red-headed Bushranger has not given up hope of reclaiming his spot.
"I'm on the 25 contracted Cricket Australia contracts so that always means you're probably in their view for the next 12 months, so I'll take that," McDonald said.
"It was just myself and Aaron Finch walking down ... (and we) walked too close to the ducklings and the old father duck attacked me," McDonald said
