No Hopes for Qld

Queensland captain James Hopes has pulled out of Wednesday's domestic one-day clash against Victoria after aggravating a thumb injury at practice.

Hopes on Tuesday was struck on the same thumb that he injured while steering Queensland home to a Sheffield Shield win over South Australia in Brisbane last week.

X-rays have cleared him of a break but Hopes decided against playing the Bushrangers at the MCG in the split innings encounter on Wednesday.

He is still hopeful of taking his place in the side for their Shield clash with Victoria starting on Friday.

Hopes has been replaced by allrounder Jason Floros, who flew to Melbourne on Tuesday night.

Wicket-keeper Chris Hartley will captain the Bulls in a one-day game for the first time this season.

"He showed plenty of ticker to get us home against the Redbacks in the Shield match last week but it was asking too much for him to play tomorrow."

"The good sign is that there is no fracture."

Bulls team: Chris Hartley (capt), Cameron Boyce, Ben Cutting, Ben Dunk, Luke Feldman, Jason Floros, Ryan Harris, Chris Lynn, Michael Neser, Craig Philipson, Nathan Reardon, Nathan Rimmington, Chris Swan (12 to play, one to be omitted)
