Shane Warne attacks English camp over treatment of Kevin Pietersen

SHANE Warne has dropped a bombshell into England's Ashes camp by declaring the tourists have treated their biggest star, Kevin Pietersen, in ordinary fashion and made him feel like an outcast.

Warne, who believes Pietersen has as much batting talent as Sachin Tendulkar, says it is no wonder the man they call KP has been in a run drought.

Pietersen enters the Ashes opener without a Test century in 20 months and has only passed 50 once in his three tour matches over the past month.

"KP's lean trot has a lot to do with the way he has been treated by England. He was forced out as captain [in January 2009] and sacked from the one-day side earlier this year," Warne told The Daily Telegraph.

"KP might be 'the walking ego' with the way he struts around, and sometimes he is unpopular with his own teammates and can rub people up the wrong way.

However Pietersen is certainly feeling the pressure of his batting woes and it is an area Australia will target.

One of the reasons for picking Ashes bolter Xavier Doherty was that Pietersen has been dismissed by left-arm orthodox spin bowlers 17 times in his 66 Tests.
