Sheffield Shield Match for NSW v Queensland,South Australia v Victoria,Tasmania v WA,

South Australia v Victoria, Sheffield Shield, Adelaide, 2nd day

South Australia 168 and 3 for 98 (Cooper 53) trail Victoria 306 (Finch 62, White 60, Wade 54, Edmondson 5-93, O'Brien 3-50) by 40 runs

South Australia spinner Aaron O'Brien took three wickets in the middle session as the Redbacks dismissed Victoria for 306 on day two of their Sheffield Shield clash at Adelaide Oval.

The Bushrangers lead the Redbacks by 138 runs with the SA set to begin their second dig after the tea break.

Ben Edmondson (5-93) took his first five-wicket haul for the Redbacks, while O'Brien's figures were just as impressive with the spinner's spell producing 3-50 from 20 overs.

The SA paceman removed Rob Quiney for 42 and David Hussey for a duck before Bushrangers captain Cameron White and Aaron Finch put on a 97-run partnership to steady the ship for Victoria.
Tasmania v WA, Sheffield Shield, Hobart

Western Australia 108 and 4 for 226 (Robinson 98, Marsh 50) lead Tasmania 258 (Cosgrove 100, Faulkner 52*, Doolan 51, Hogan 6-70) by 76 runs

Michael Hogan took a career-best 6 for 70

Michael Hogan's six-wicket haul dragged Western Australia back into the contest before Wes Robinson helped them establish a small lead over Tasmania.

Dumped Test batsman Marcus North fell cheaply as Tasmania took control of the Sheffield Shield match against Western Australia in Hobart on Saturday.

The visitors are 4-226 at stumps in their bid to set the Tigers a defendable total on a bowler-friendly wicket at Bellerive Oval.

Although behind in the match, WA took the honours in all three sessions on Saturday, which were interrupted by periods of light rain.

But with just six wickets in hand, a lot rests on the shoulders of Adam Voges and David Bandy, who have put on an unbeaten 37 runs for the fifth wicket.

Shaun Marsh (50) was then brilliantly run out after a direct hit from Drew at mid-on.

With bowlers dominant in all but one match at Bellerive Oval this season, WA will fancy their chances of snatching a come-from-behind outright if they can set the hosts a tricky target on day four, which will start early at 10am to make up for lost time.
NSW v Queensland, Sheffield Shield, Sydney, 1st day

New South Wales 6 for 286 (Maddinson 130*, Nevill 69, Swan 4-55) v Queensland

Rising star Nic Maddinson admits former club team-mate Steve Smith's rapid rise through the ranks serves as a constant source of inspiration.

Maddinson, who turns 19 next Tuesday, carried his bat on day one of New South Wales' Sheffield Shield clash against Queensland at Blacktown Olympic Park to record his highest first-class score of 130 not out.

It was the former Australian Under-19 star's second Shield ton in just his fifth appearance for the Blues.

"I played with Steve for two or three years in club cricket (for Sutherland) when I moved up from the country (Shoalhaven Heads), so to see him doing so well and to come to the squad this year and meet guys who are doing well at international level, yeah, it's a real confidence booster," Maddinson said.
